Mayagadu Movie Review
Leela Krishna (Venu) is a con artist who cons people and earns money. People of his village send him to city by giving away their hard earned money. Leela Krishna also completes law and joins his friend (Ali) who is also a petty lawyer. Leela Krishna comes to know that a leading lawyer’s (Sayaji Shinde) younger daughter Vandana (Charmi) is yet to get married and traps her and marries her. However, his plans take a U turn when Vandana comes out of her house without taking a single penny. Leela Krishna then starts earning in bad ways and how he reforms finally is the rest of the story.
Analysis:
This film was in cans for ages and one gets a feeling that it deserves to be. There is not a single point in this film to rave about. It is absolute nonsense from scene one to the end. Director didn’t have any solid script on hands. He simply put all the scenes in an order to make it a two and half hour film.
Mayagadu is sheer torture for the masses even as the stupidity goes on increasing with each scene. First half is better without any script involved. Director thought of including some story in to this shallow script in the second half and a villain enters abruptly into it.
What seemed like a comedy film until then suddenly turns in to a family drama which ends on a silly note. It would be a real test for patience to sit through this film as the director never compromised on the length of the film. There are six songs which increase the pain and the loud acting from one and all makes things even worse.
Performances:
Venu has nothing to do except to mouth some nonsensical dialogues and enact some stupid and illogical scenes. The man deserves a flop for accepting such idiotic script. Charmi’s only mantra in this movie is exposing her curvy assets. She flaunted her skin in almost every scene and song.
Sayaji Shinde is standard. Ali is boring. Ravibabu is Okay. Satya Krishna is bland. Satya Prakash is annoying. Others all hammed to the maximum extent they can.
Tehnicalities:
There is nothing worthy to mention about the technical crew. Chakri’s music is a pain in the ears and the camera work is shoddy. We doubt if there is any editor on the crew. Director doesn’t know basics of filmmaking. There is a director character in this film that is played by AVS. There’s no difference between him and the real director of this film.
Plus Points:
- Nothing
Minus points:
- Everything
Final Word: Mayagadu – Tortures you to death
Box office predictions: It will sink without any trace!
